For 22 years, the most anticipated event, the Folk Music Concert at the Old West Church in Calais, has gathered some of the best folk musicians and singers at this unique venue. This year’s 23rd concert will feature Dominique Dodge, a harpist and singer with a long performance resume, at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21. Dodge, from New Hampshire, is the first harpist to perform at the concert.
According to concert founder and organizer Deb Flanders, what makes Dodge’s appearance worth hearing is that “she has a passion for melodic dance music and responsive, rhythmic accompaniment to 18th-century Gaelic songs, sheet music and harp tunes.” . Dodge’s credentials include a Fulbright Scholarship and a 2012 graduate of the University of Limerick with an MA in Irish Music Performance. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow.
