“I turn around when I read something about myself”

Thanks in large part to his time in the MCU, Tom Holland has become one of the biggest young stars in the entire film industry. His last appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home only took it to new heights as the film became the highest grossing non-grosserThe Avengers film in MCU history with a masterful performance by Holland.

During his time in the MCU, Holland’s social media presence has become quite regular, amassing nearly 75 million followers on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. He has used this presence for much more than promoting his films, and has also been a big part of The Brother’s Trust, a charity founded by the Holland family that helps grant funds and support other charities in need.

But now, after a noticeable decrease in posts from Holland, they follow There is no roadIn the episode, the actor shared a message with fans about his future on social media.

The Spider-Man star is leaving social media

MCU star Tom Holland shared on Instagram that he is leaving social media, deleting the Instagram and Twitter apps from his devices.

Holland only temporarily returned to share the decision in a three-minute video, telling fans he’s staying offline to take care of his own mental health. During the video, he also took time to promote Stem4 Teenage Mental Health Charity and The Brothers Trust, his own charity to support mental health for all.

The Spider-Man star had the following caption:

“Hello and bye… I’ve been taking a break from social media for my mental health, but felt the need to come here to talk about Stem4. Stem4 is one of the many charities that The Brothers Trust is extremely proud to support – and I’d like to take a moment to shine a light on their fantastic work. Please take the time to watch my video and if you feel like sharing it with anyone who might enjoy it, it would be greatly appreciated. There is a link in my bio to The Brothers Trust Shop where you can purchase a t-shirt and help us continue to help these amazing charities thrive. Love to you all and let’s talk about mental health”

Holland opened the video with the following message, noting how “overstimulation” and “overwhelming” both Twitter and Instagram may be for him, which has led him to leave both for the foreseeable future:

“Hi guys. I’ve been trying to make this video for about an hour now and for someone who’s spent 13-14 years on this, no matter how much I shoot… I can’t say what I need to say without “um” and “ahh” every time five minutes, so I’ll try again. I took a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter too stimulating, it’s amazing when I read something about myself online I get excited and I cringe and ultimately it’s very bad for my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

Tom Holland takes a step back from the spotlight

As of August 2022, Tom Holland has more Instagram followers than any MCU star except for Groth actor Vin Diesel, whose popularity has skyrocketed over the past half-decade. After being the lead actor in the biggest pop culture movie since Avengers: Endgamehe’s reached a level of fame that few actors do, and it seems to have rubbed off on him.

Being a Hollywood actor at any level in Hollywood can be emotionally taxing and challenging because of what fans and the media have to say about the stars of their favorite movies, especially in today’s 24/7 environment created by today’s social media. There’s also a huge part of this discussion that can be negative, and regardless of where it’s coming from, stars like Holland can’t escape such comments on a daily basis.

Holland recently celebrated his 26th birthday, which should remind fans just how young he is even after six years in the MCU as Spider-Man. His public relations with Spiderman his co-star Zendaya also regularly keeps him in the public eye, and he’s repeatedly discussed how stressful it can be for both of them as they grow up together.

Whether or not Holland will return to social media remains to be seen, but he will make that decision when he feels the time is right. With only a couple of projects on his resume for the foreseeable future before his likely return as Peter Parker is yet to be dated Spider-Man 4the MCU star will hopefully be able to make his own life as comfortable as possible as he promotes the same mental health for everyone.
