It’s the middle of July, which means you’ve probably just reached the peak of your sunny summer glow. The sun sets past 9:00 p.m., the weather is getting hotter (too hot) and you’re wondering how to keep your summer romance alive in the fall. The season is flying by, but summer isn’t over yet, which means you still have time to try the hottest summer 2022 fashion trends.

This season’s trends encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and make a statement. So while you’re debating whether to wear a shade brighter than the sun or add a body chain to your look (I vote for both), it’s important to remember that the best accessory to your outfit is “I’m Hot and I Know It” “.

But you don’t have to just take my word for it. I spoke to supermodel Chanel Iman about her summer fashion tips for feeling and looking your best. Since Chanel Iman has walked in countless fashion shows and worn all the trends before they hit the stores, I totally trust her take on this summer’s trends.

Iman says: “If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my career when it comes to fashion, it’s to be bold and confident in your style – and most importantly, be yourself. Bold patterns are a hit this summer!”

Just because you’re buying bold pieces doesn’t mean they have to break the bank. Retailers such as Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Asos often have a version of each trend at a better price point.

According to Iman, Marshalls has “a great variety of styles with fun, quirky patterns that are perfect for summer – like this one blouse for just $12! I love pairing bold patterns with simple opposites like these jeans shorts make the blouse an attractive element of my image.”

The good news is that all the main summer fashion trends can be easily recreated with bright accessories or tone it down by pairing them with basics like jeans or a classic blazer. Keep scrolling to choose which trend you want to rock before summer rolls around.

Brighter is better in the fashion game right now, and hot pink is about as bright as it gets. This shade first gained popularity when Valentino made it the only color on the catwalk last season, and since then almost every celebrity has worn it! Just when it seemed like pink couldn’t get any hotter, Barbiecore, the image of the nostalgic bimbo fashionista, made a resurgence. Coincidentally (or not so much), photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling wearing pink on the set of the upcoming Barbie movie were released at the same time. I predict the bright colors will last until fall, but summer is definitely the best time to wear them.

If wearing an all-hot pink outfit is intimidating, take model Chanel Iman’s advice and add neon colors to your accessories. “Since my style is more colorful and laid-back, my favorite way to accessorize my summer look is with a simple dress accessorized,” says Iman.

This hot pink cut-out dress is the perfect way to make a statement at a summer dinner or party on the town. Also, if you want to tone it down, you can always wear a neutral colored blazer on top.

Dressing in the heat of summer often means ditching layers and pieces that add detail to stay cool, which is why I love the mesh trend so much. Mesh adds texture and dimension to any look and can be worn for any occasion. For example, a slip-free mesh dress is the perfect cover-up for a swimsuit, or a mesh tank top can be paired with layered jewelry and baggy jeans for an easy, cool daytime look. My favorite take on the trend is crisp white mesh dresses (as pictured above). Pair the dress with a contrasting bag and bright pumps to complete the look.

Openwork cotton dress

This cut-out dress from Mango has an above-the-knee length and hemline. The mesh overlay is supposed to be a little too big, so don’t be afraid to size up.

Using only a woven bag for a few days by the ocean? Beach please. The beach bag has been reduced, it can be carried from the city to the country, to the pool and back. Designers such as Loewe, Balenciaga and Prada have created sturdy versions of woven basket bags designed to be worn as handbags. The material and shape are perfect for summer and are a great way to bring a coastal granny vibe into your everyday life. Whether you go for a colorful iteration or stick to classic neutrals,

Mini-tout of Santorini

If you’re torn between neutrals and color, this DeMellier mini woven bag gives you the best of both worlds. It’s small enough to carry as a purse, but still fits over the shoulder.

Are you attending a formal wedding? Feathers will look great for this. Maybe you have a big birthday party planned? A feather mini dress is a must. Or if you just love dressing up for your daily coffee run, then you’re probably already wearing feather-trimmed sleeves to impress the barista. Feathers are undoubtedly the funnest fashion trend this summer.

ASOS has the best selection of party dresses with sparkly feathers and I’m obsessed with this orange one (and just got it). Feathered sleeves are best oversized and you won’t be able to move an arm without getting 100 compliments.

Whether you’ve been in a relationship for years or don’t have time to swipe left or right, a slip dress is the ultimate date night look, and model Chanel Iman agrees. “I like to be comfortable, and dresses do the trick. For an evening date, I will choose an element of the summer wardrobe – a little black dress,” says Iman.

Slips work great as an LBD, or they can be played up with bright colors or patterns. A slip dress is not only sexy, but also very versatile. You can wear them alone, over a t-shirt or with a blazer or cardigan depending on your date night plans.

This floral dress is very flirty thanks to the lace hem. Pair it with heels and a sparkly shoulder bag and you’ll have everyone in awe of you.

Calling all fashionable maximalists! A body chain will take your look and accessories to the next level. Chain bodysuits look great with a bikini, crop top, or layered over baggy jeans in the summer. If you need an extra clue, Hailey Bieber’s entire Instagram page is actually a body chain fan account. While I wish this trend could stick year-round, it’s hard to wear a body chain over a chunky wool sweater (although I dare you to try). This is definitely a trend to try before fall.
