BOSTON-(BUSINESS WIRE)–Veolia, a global leader in the provision of environmental services in the fields of water supply, waste disposal and energy, has received, through its subsidiaries in the United States, the first place in the annual list of the largest environmental companies in the United States, compiled by Engineering News Record, a well-known industry publication.
Ranked by reported revenue, Veolia was ranked number one on the annual U.S. Top 200 Green Companies list in multiple market segments, including:
Hazardous waste management
Air quality/Clean energy
Veolia’s top positions in these categories confirm its status as a leader in environmental transformation, as well as its commitment to providing the world with resources while helping industrial and municipal customers solve their environmental and sustainability challenges in energy, water and waste. In particular, Veolia improves customers’ energy efficiency, improves water and wastewater management and recovers resources from their waste.
The recognition follows the completion of Veolia’s merger with Suez earlier this year, with the combined assets, mainly focused on water services, now part of Veolia. In the United States and Canada, the combination of the two companies positions Veolia North America with more than 10,000 employees and more than 350 divisions, making it the leading water and wastewater company in the United States.
“We are extremely pleased to be recognized as a leader in providing innovative and vital environmental solutions to millions of people in the US and around the world,” said Fred Van Himes, president and CEO of Veolia North America. “The environmental services sector plays a key role in providing solutions for environmental transformation to help businesses and communities cope with resource scarcity and mitigate the impacts of climate change. At Veolia, we are committed to being at the forefront of innovation and supporting environmental transformation in the US and around the world.”
This year, the top 200 environmental services companies reached a new high, with $112.7 billion in revenue last year and $53.3 billion in non-U.S. revenue. This total has grown largely thanks to the work of Veolia.
